Realization of big American dream began in 1875 in New York, where the modest immigrant from Bohemia Joseph Bulova opened small jewelry shop. And this modest enterprise had to develop into one of the powerful corporations for the production of watches. In 1911 Bulova began to produce wall clocks, and also pocket watches, which were sold very well. During the First World War wrist watches for soldiers were released. Veterans, who returned from the war, brought with themselves fashion for Bulova watches. Production was enlarged, and Bulova accumulated some budget to start production of watches with precious stones. Thus, in 1919 was launched manufacturing line of men’s wrist watches decorated with precious stones, and shortly after line of ladies fine watches. During Great Depression Bulova supported retail merchants, proposing different types of payments for watches. In the following decade Bulova actively supported first commercial television, kept production of typical watches, maps of America; therefore America lived on time of Bulova. By that time already Arde Bulova, the son of Joseph Bulova, deals with production of watches for soldiers. When The United States entered the Second World War, the factories of Bulova immediately began to improve production in order to supply precise equipment for the military forces of the country. Bulova provided the government of America with watches for soldiers, specific clockworks, equipment for aircrafts, precise mechanisms for torpedoes and fuses.
At the end of war Joseph Bulova opened school for watch’s production, where the war veterans, including invalids, were trained with new peaceful profession. School was established exclusively to the means of Bulova Corporation, it was equipped with the latest word of technology for the convenient work, leisure and treatment for disabled war veterans. New era in the production of watches began in 1950’s, when Bulova started production of Accutron - first electronic watches with high accuracy. In 60's the company developed technologies for the space programs, as a result of it Accutron Bulova became the component part of the satellites and the spacecraft. Bulova timer was place in lunar Sea of Tranquility, from where it transferred information for several years. When the accuracy of Accutron became affordable for the regular customers, Bulova became the first watch brand, which granted written guarantees of the accuracy of motion 1 minute per month. Today Bulova produces one of the most precise quartz mechanisms with the guarantee of the accuracy of 3 minutes per year. In the recent decades Bulova watches repeatedly were accepted as the presidential gifts, and they also serve as the official watches of the Olympic team of the United States.
